‘Cathy is a highly skilled clinician who is able to make sense of complex clinical presentations and also deftly navigate a sensible path when a client has a chaotic social situation. She brings an air of calm and balance to the interdisciplinary team, and applies her technical and theoretical knowledge to the real world to bring the very best outcomes for her clients. Following an initial phone call an assessment may be the next step. This will take place in your own home. It usually involves a mixture of formal and informal assessment and discussion with you and a close communication partner about the difficulties you are experiencing. This appointment usually takes 1-1.5 hours. In some instances where the situation is more complex, several assessment sessions may be required.
Assessment will provide the findings related to your communication difficulty and recommendations for rehabilitation. A clinical report is provided with these findings and recommendations. This will be discussed with you in relation to your own communication goals. For longer periods of intervention, it may be appropriate to provide an interim report with updated information.

This can take place in your home or if appropriate in a functional setting. Sessions usually last around 60 minutes but maybe be longer or shorter.
Therapy is always personalised and goal oriented. Progress is measured as therapy progresses and goals regularly reviewed.
Therapy may involve working directly with you but may involve your close communication partner(s)
It may be appropriate to work with other members of your team directly in sessions or indirectly to ensure rehabilitation is joined up.
Therapy progress notes are made following each session to monitor and record progress.
